Optional Morning Trip: The Jamestown Trail For those interested in seeing history in chronological order, we’re heading to where it all began. We can pool our rental cars for the 8-mile drive out to Jamestown. The Itinerary: Historic Jamestowne: Explore the actual archaeological site and original 1607 fort. Jamestown Settlement: A short 2-mile hop away to see the recreated living history museums and ships. Billsburg Brewery: Located right next door to the Settlement. Feel free to grab lunch from the on site food truck and enjoy a local craft beer. (Website) Afternoon: Williamsburg & William & Mary& Mary If you're staying in town or once we return from Jamestown, the afternoon is open for exploring the Colonial Williamsburg Historic area. historic area and the William & Mary campus. Must-See History: The Capitol and the Courthouse are the top recommended stops. Period Pints: For a unique experience, check out King’s Arms Tavern or Shields Tavern. Both feature staff in 18th-century attire and live musical performers for a truly immersive vibe.
